These are Vietnam`s best beach holiday destinations!

1.DA NANG (TRADITIONAL & SCENIC)

A modern coastal city with sparkling skyscrapers is defined by miles-long white stretches and fancy holiday resorts. The iconic Han riverfront promenade is reminiscent of a subdued version of Shanghai`s Bund, while the contemporary beachfront offers fine palm-fringed strands, excellent dining and entertainment options.

Da Nang is a place where old tradition meets the fashionable, as while the wealthy Russian tourists sip on Mojitos and Margaritas at prominent nightclubs the local fishermen are spreading their fishing nets to bring the daily catch before the dawn and sell it at the morning markets.

WHAT TO DO: sightseeing (Dragon Bridge, Han River Promenade, Am Phu Cave Temple), Monkey Mountain, Marble Mountains (panoramic views), local cuisine, nightlife, snorkelling & diving (Cu Lao Cham Marine Park), surfing, sunbaking & swimming (My Khe Beach), traditional fishing boats on the beaches of Da Nang

2.NHA TRANG (CONTEMPORARY & LUXURIOUS)

Dubbed as the ‘Beach Capital of Vietnam,’ Nha Trang is famed for a sweeping stretch of gorgeous beaches, and the paradisiacal offshore islands add to its appeal. Nha Trang`s turquoise waters offer fantastic diving opportunities while the beachfront has plenty to offer to keep the visitors entertained: parks, gardens, large shopping malls, stylish restaurants, sophisticated bars and hip nightclubs.

3.MUI NE & PHAN TIET (SPORTY & TRENDY)

Built around a charming fishing village, the beautiful beach of Mui Ne has a reputation as the ‘Adrenaline Capital of Vietnam, popular with surfers (August-December) and wind and kite surfers (October-April), when the gales hit the place.

This is also a time when the changing winds sculpt the vivid sands into the giant dunes and tourists can have endless fun sand-sledging, quad biking, and 4-wheel driving. Not only natural attractions draw the tourism; luxurious resorts, restaurants, shopping malls and casino can be found in the city.

4.CON DAO ISLANDS (TRANQUIL & CHIC)

The blissful white-sand archipelago of Con Dao boasts splendid beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and lush rainforest. It is home to the Con Dao National Park that protects sea turtle nesting grounds. Con Son is the largest island, and it has so far avoided mass tourism which makes it be a serene beach location with deserted beaches.

Apart from being a marine reserve, the island has become a very important historical place and home to the Cemetery of National Heroes (more than 20 000 Vietnamese legends are buried here).  Prisons, cemeteries & tombs are some of the major attractions; Con Dao used to be a prison island for political prisoners during the French colonial era as well as the communist regime.

Best beaches are: scenic An Hai Beach, white Lo Voi Beach,  Dat Doc Beach, Ong Dung Beach  with monkeys (small entrance fee), and the gorgeous Dam Trau Beach

5.PHU QUOC ISLAND (PRISTINE & IDYLLIC)

Phu Quoc is an exquisite tropical paradise with relatively unspoiled nature, dense jungle, azure seas and white beaches. Situated off the Cambodian coastline, the island features balmy temperatures all year round and some of the best snorkelling and diving locations in Vietnam. There is a good choice of accommodation available, ranging from mid-budget hotels to expensive eco-resorts.

Bai Sao Beach, Phu Quoc Island

Phu Quoc island was rated as the “Cleanest and Most Beautiful Beach-Location on Earth” by ABC News. That might well change soon; booming tourism industry has recently built numerous resorts, restaurants, roads and even an airport for international holidaymakers. In spite of that Phu Quoc is still largely untouched and a perfect spot for a tranquil vacation.

WHAT TO DO: exploring the island by scooter, An Thoi (fishing village, boat tours), hunting for souvenirs (Pearl Farm, Pepper Farm, Fish Factory), Suio Tranh (tropical waterfall with swimming hole), Bai Sao Beach (the most beautiful on the island)

6.HA LONG BAY (ROMANTIC & PICTURESQUE)

The Vietnamese named it “The Bay of the Descending Dragon,” and the majestic grandeur of this place along with its mysterious ambience became the inspiration for dozens of legends and poems since ever. No wonder that Ha Long Bay was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent coastal area is dotted with thousands of uniquely shaped limestone islands, ridges, hidden coves and echoing caves, towering over motionless waters.

WHAT TO DO: overnight cruise from Hanoi, sea kayaking, jungle trekking, waterfalls, caves, floating villages, Cat Ba Island, Lan Ha Bay (wonderful white beaches)
